The 10 best jacaranda viewing spots in Perth are begging for photo ops!
If you haven’t seen Perth streets covered in jacarandas, you’re not living your best life yet. Lucky for you, we know all the prime, ‘sea of purple’ locations for that Insta-worthy shot.
You’ll know what we’re talking about below. The round-up consists of streets and suburbs where the famed blooms are in their full glory, especially from mid-October through to mid-November!
Applecross

Kicking things off with Applecross is a no-brainer. Most Perth locals reckon it’s the jacaranda capital of the city, and come spring, it’s no wonder why it’s the consensus.
Nisbet Road is a particular beaut to wander, but the whole area is a feast for tourists and flora lovers. For maximum charm, though, you must hit the Rotary Jacaranda Festival in November!
Tip: Applecross is a top spot for skating and biking. Ditch the car, save a few bucks, and do your bit for the environment while you’re at it!
Inglewood

Inglewood’s Sixth to Tenth Avenues gave us a taste of unabashed jacaranda magic. Every turn was draped in purple, paired perfectly with the area’s chilled-out atmosphere and walkable paths.
Sure, our legs had a bit of a workout, but it was worth every step. The escapade became more worthwhile when we stopped at Sugar & Nice for their legendary cinnamon scrolls, which satisfyingly recharged us after a whole arvo of jacaranda viewing.
Tip: Time your visit when the Inglewood Night Markets are running.
Subiaco

Subiaco’s Old Jacaranda Way is always a spring fave of ours. The quaint, often unhurried street pops with reds, browns, greens, and, of course, the signature purples.
Subi isn’t just a one-trick pony, either; come jacaranda season, you’ll find violet hues all over town, not only in the Old Jacaranda Way. However, don’t expect Applecross-level density.
Tip: Other than driving, one of the most convenient ways to reach Subiaco is by taking the Fremantle Train line.
Perth Hills

Perth Hills never disappoints when it comes to wildflowers (wild flowers perth), and their jacaranda-lined streets are no exception.
If you opt for this area, Kalamunda is a safe start. You can also hit up the Lesmurdie Falls track (2 km), but we believe the Palm Terrace Walk (5.5 km) has dreamier sights of the purple flowers.
Tip: If it’s your first time here, start at Perth Hills Kalamunda Visitor Centre. The staff here will provide other sights to see beyond jacarandas.
Wembley

Just a stone’s throw from Subi, Wembley is a smaller but more intimate area for jacaranda viewing. Ruislip Street is arguably the finest spot, though Simper Street isn’t far behind in the purple stakes.
Tip: Don’t worry if you get tired of the jacarandas. The flora-filled Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a 7-minute ride from Wembley!
Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a stunner all year, but spring gives it a purple makeover with jacarandas shading its pristine strolling and jogging paths.
The park being steps from Chu Bakery doesn’t hurt either. Grabbing a croissant or doughnut to pair with their matcha makes every visit sweeter!
Tip: Don’t forget your picnic essentials. Hyde Park boasts shady and expansive areas perfect for kicking back.
Marlborough Street

Marlborough Street had us reaching for cameras straight away. With jacarandas in bloom and Claisebrook Inlet as the backdrop, it’s a strip you’d see in a painting or postcard.
The Partisan ups the appeal with its alfresco dining and Aussie brunch. Our team’s pick is their steak sandwich (steak sandwich perth), featuring a tender 130-g sirloin, crackling bacon, and toasted Turkish bread.
Tip: Don’t miss out on the white-sand Cottesloe Beach, a popular attraction that’s just 5 minutes away from Marlborough Street.
Leake Street

Leake Street is meant for shots of jacarandas with the Perth skyline as a backdrop. The shady stretch also keeps the sun at bay while you snap, so turning into a tomato won’t likely be a worry here.
Afterwards, you may also pop by Engine Room Espresso for their crowd-pulling bagels. The cream cheese option is a fan-favourite, thanks to its density, tenderness, and right hit of tanginess.
Tip: Beyond jacarandas, Leake Street is famed for its murals. Follow this trail if urban art piques your interest.
Mount Street West

Jacarandas and the Perth skyline also come together at Mount Street West, where plenty of benches invite you to sit back and enjoy a picnic. That means pack some nosh and sips.
If you forgot your snacks and brews, just make a beeline to the nearby Mount Street Breakfast Bar. Their French toast, coupled with the subtly sweet Nitro cold brew, will sort the foodie in you.
Tip: Consider visiting early to indulge in Mount Street Breakfast Bar’s famous scrambled eggs and French toast!

Tip: If you want to check out some animals, head to Perth Zoo. It’s just 4 minutes from Strickland St!
