The best amusement parks in Perth where I went bonkers with my kids!
Parenting in Perth might not be the easiest gig in the world, but it sure does come with its fair share of perks. One of them is never being worlds away from a roller coaster or dodgem cars.
That means when the kids (or kids at heart aka me) demand an outing that’s equal parts whimsy and mayhem, you won’t have to drive halfway across Western Australia. There’s always an amusement park within an hour from the CBD.
We visit them so often, even the candy vendors know our names! So, if you’re after a guide leading to these parks, you’ve found it!
Perth’s Outback Splash

Contact Details: +61 8 9571 1375
Operating Hours:
- Wed to Thu – 10 am to 5 pm
- Fri – 10 am to 3 pm
- Sat to Sun – 10 am to 5 pm
Drive from the Perth CBD: 34 mins (42.8 km)
If you ask us, Perth’s Outback Splash is the most enjoyable way to cool down the city’s summer scorch. From September to April, this cross between a water park and an amusement park beats the heat with refreshing pools, rapid slides, and mind-blowing mazes.
In our recent trips, we grown-ups had a hard time dragging the kiddos out of the 35-metre Octopus Bay, a splash pool with a titanic octopus as a centrepiece.
We also loved The Wedgie. (No, not that wedgie!) We’re talking about WA’s fastest waterslide, which zoomed us down at a speed of 75 kilometres per hour.
A few wrong turns in the mazes punctuated our visits. They were terrific for sensory play, with all the puzzles and twists challenging us and the sprogs!
Tip: Score deals and discounts by getting the park’s season pass.
Adventure World
From adventureworldperth
Address: 351 Progress Dr, Bibra Lake
Contact Details: +61 8 9417 9666
Operating Hours: Mon, Fri to Sun – 10 am to 5 pm
Drive from the Perth CBD: 21 mins (20.5 km)
Hardly a second passed without some thrills during our Adventure World escape. How could we snooze when the park has 25+ rides, a Hawaiian-themed resort, and a slice of the Aussie wildlife?
As for the main jaw-droppers, we’ll start with Goliath. Angling up to 180 degrees and swinging at about 17.8 metres per second, this gigantic pendulum swing gave us adrenaline in three forms: soaring, free-falling, and twisting.
Abyss, Perth’s only rollercoaster, offered the same heart-racing experience—just at a speedier rate of up to 85 kilometres per hour. There’s more to tell, like its 1.5–4.5 G-force, which made us feel weightless and heavy in quick bursts!
Of course, the place isn’t just for adrenaline buffs; the case in point is Dragon’s Kingdom. Our older kiddos had a ripper time interacting with its water-themed features, like the raining mushroom tree, tipping buckets, and looping sprays!
Tip: Groups of 30 or more are qualified for discounts.
iPlay Carousel
From iplay_carousel
Address: Westfield Carousel, 1382 Albany Hwy, Cannington
Contact Details: +61 8 9350 5012
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 10 am to 10 pm
- Fri – 10 am to 11 pm
- Sat – 9 am to 11 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 10 pm
Drive from the Perth CBD: 21 mins (11.9 km)
iPlay Carousel’s $8-per-ride Drift Dodgem Cars were a riot. Every turn, slide, spin, and drift was precise, and there was enough room for us to ‘backseat drive’ the kiddos.
The smaller lot, though, preferred Clip ‘n Climb, a set of interactive climbing obstacles and walls safeguarded by an auto belay system. What makes it truly enjoyable and unique is that each feature varies in difficulty.
It wasn’t enough to satisfy our mini daredevils, though. Luckily, the joint also has a high ropes course, where they raced across zip lines and crossed hanging bridges.
There’s also an equally pumping arcade for a bit of tech-induced frenzy and nostalgia. There, the VR games, skee ball area, and NBA hoops machine had us for hours—and mate, best believe we schooled the little ones!
Tip: You can throw private events for adults and kids here, including birthday celebrations or Christmas parties!
Tourist Wheel Fremantle
From touristwheel
Address: Esplanade Park, 34 Mews Rd, Fremantle
Contact Details: +61 1300 130 407
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 10 am to 9 pm
- Fri to Sat – 10 am to 10 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 9 pm
Drive from the Perth CBD: 29 mins (23.4 km)
The last two entries are more standalone rides than parks, but they’re too iconic to leave out, starting with the Tourist Wheel Fremantle.
Since 2013, this 36-metre Ferris wheel has been offering snap-worthy views of Fremantle, chiefly areas like the esplanade park, fishing ports, and boat harbour.
The best part? A ride goes for about 8–12 minutes, which isn’t too shabby given the $12 to $15 ticket and wheelchair-friendly features.

Elizabeth Quay Carousel
From elizabethquaycarousel
Address: Elizabeth Quay, Geoffrey Bolton Av
Contact Details: +61 415 269 822
Operating Hours: Fri to Sun – 10 am to 9 pm
Drive from the Perth CBD: 5 mins (1 km)
The Elizabeth Quay Carousel is a Venetian merry-go-round everyone must experience. For one, it’s the brainchild of the same company that built the carousel by the Eiffel Tower.
Second, it flaunts too-pretty-to-miss, hand-painted Venetian art. The vintage aesthetics are also further refined by traditional ‘carousel music,’ which always reminds us of a fairytale score.
And lastly, it won’t hurt your savings. Tickets start at 6 bucks per person, with a $15-for-three deal as the cherry on top.
Tip: Children under 1.1 metres can ride for free if a paying adult accompanies them.
