When life gives you lemons, chuck axes at the best axe-throwing centres in Perth!
We’ll admit, we are absolutely obsessed with axe-throwing (probably because we’re always stressed). There’s just something cathartic about hurling sharp steel and watching it splinter wooden targets upon impact—rage done right, as we call it.
Then comes the social side and physical perks. We get to shake the blues by bonding with our mates, all while slowly chiselling muscles and improving stamina.
If you want to get in on it too, Perth has some great axe-throwing spots for de-stressing. We picked our favourites below.
MANIAX Axe Throwing – NORTHBRIDGE
From astro.katross
Address: 63A John St, Northbridge
Contact Details: +61 1300 217 583
Operating Hours:
- Mon – 2 pm to 8 pm
- Tue to Thu – 2 pm to 9 pm
- Fri – 12 pm to 9 pm
- Sat – 9 am to 9 pm
- Sun – 11 am to 8 pm
Bringing my boo and mates at MANIAX was a belter of a decision. For an entire arvo, we became Vikings by chucking two different axes and downing pizza and spiced mead.
Drake, the resident ‘axe-pert,’ also helped us turn the event into a bloody corker. He taught us safety measures and throwing techniques while maintaining the buzzing vibe.
MANIAX’s fiery competition format was the cherry on top. One to two hours of going axe per axe had us testing trick shots, talking smack, and strategising—all for the pursuit of bragging rights.
Tips:
- Bring your pup. This is a dog-friendly venue as long as your fur baby is supervised at all times.
- Avoid Saturdays if you’re not a fan of huge crowds.
- Join the league to test your skills and score discounts!
Maxed Out Axe Throwing
From maxedout_axethrowing
Address: Swan Settlers Market, 124 Lennard St, Herne Hill
Contact Details: +61 426 241 991
Operating Hours:
- Wed to Fri – 1 pm to 6:30 pm
- Sat to Sun – 10 am to 5:30 pm
The 9-lane Maxed Out Axe Throwing lets guests lob axes and tomahawks like Vikings on a budget. Sessions range from 20 minutes ($20 per person) to an hour ($47 – $52 per person), and since lanes are privately allocated, you won’t share one with randos.
Also, the rules are a doddle, similar to other venues—just aim for the bullseye and let it fly (kind of like darts but way more badass). Safety briefings and competitions are part of the deal, too, so you can fire things up without worrying about stray axes.
Just a heads-up, though—unlike the first entry, there are no meads or alcoholic brews here. You must also be at least 13 years old to participate.
Tips:
- You may bring your own food. They don’t serve snacks here, just soft drinks and water.
- Walk-ins are available on Sundays and Saturdays.
- Invite at least one friend. The minimum booking size requires your ‘group’ to have at least two people.
The Axe Centre (in The Kart Centre)
From thekartcentre
Address: Swan Settlers Market, 124 Lennard St, Herne Hill
Contact Details: +61 426 241 991
Operating Hours:
- Wed to Fri – 1 pm to 6:30 pm
- Sat to Sun- 10 am to 5:30 pm
As Perth’s first interactive axe-throwing haunt, The Axe Centre brings the sport into the future. Static, wooden targets are ditched for projected and interactive images that you’ll smash with real steel, video game-style.
They also offer a two-punch deal that’ll satisfy speed demons. Both the 90- and 45-minute packages come with a 10-minute spin on their equally cutting-edge kart track.
You’ll unlikely run out of go-fuel either, even if you’re hurling as a large group or racing for the whole day. Canape, buffet, and snack catering options are provided, starting at $8 – $35 per person.
Tips:
- You need to wear enclosed shoes.
- The venue can be hired open for private events, like team-buildings and hens parties.
- Be at the venue 30 minutes before your scheduled time for the safety briefing.
Lumber Punks Axe Throwing Perth
From lumberpunks_axethrowing
Address: 131 Kensington St, East Perth
Contact Details: +61 8 9325 8234
Operating Hours: Daily – 8 am to 11:30 pm
Website
Since 2019, Lumber Punks has been an axe-throwing mecca. For one, its warehouse-style setup flexes 20 enclosed lanes, ideal for romantic date nights and full-blown parties.
They also score extra ace points for having informative coaches who are superb at throwing both jokes and axes. Alex and Tim stick out the most.
Price-wise, sessions are 45 to 50 bucks for 90 minutes, a steal considering the games are fast-paced and fees include training. Groups won’t have to share lanes as well, and you can BYO grub to pair with the venue’s Kopparberg ciders and sports drinks.
Tips:
- Onsite parking is limited, so be an early bird.
- You can purchase gift cards or axe-throwing-related threads from their online store.
- There’s no group limit; invite all of your mates! A group with 15+ members pay less.
- Check if they’re currently offering a special deal.
