For one, this care provider has been around since 2009. That checks our experience box.

Their services are also wide-ranging. My dad, for instance, has Dovida carers handling laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep, and cleaning.

If you need specialised care, they’re solid, too, with options like palliative and dementia care packages.

I’ll even give them extra points for providing a management plan option. That’s a relief for people like me who are not well-versed in navigating government-funded services.

Clients tend to stay longer, too. We’ve been with them for a year, and most interviewees have similar retention rates, with 6 months as the shortest.

A thing to consider is their history of cancelling an appointment and not rescheduling. While it has never happened to us, an interviewee has raised the concern.

We’d also love to see more mental health-focused services beyond companion and dementia care.

Nurse Next Door’s name isn’t just for show. All their care packages have registered/enrolled nurses overseeing them, a win if you prefer clinical expertise beyond the standard ‘genuine care.’

No lock-in contracts, either. If your needs change, say for medical or daily tasks, they can adjust, and you won’t be stuck in a long-term agreement.

Their ‘continuity of care’ approach is another plus. Clients won’t deal with a rotating set of caregivers, as they’ll be matched with carers who align with their needs or personalities.

The catch is that finding the right match takes a while. That’s especially true for those requiring specialised services, like dementia or palliative care.

Nurse Next Door is in high demand as well. Basic to medium services often take applicants 1–6 months of wait time.

Right at Home has been around since 2013, making them one of the longest-running providers on this list.

One of their biggest strengths is having an extensive service list that can be personalised. This includes domestic, 24/7, and post-hospital care.

We’ll hand it to their specialised options. They have some care packages here others don’t have, including mental health and neurovascular support, all delivered by registered professionals.

You also get to pick your carer. While assessments help, you get the final say, which is rare since most names here assign one to clients.

Their diverse funding or payment options are also a bonus perk. Right at Home accepts NDIS, DVA, and Carer Gateway, aside from the usual Government Home Care Package route.

The downside is they’re 33 minutes from the city centre, the farthest out of all the entries. That’s a hiccup if you prefer in-person appointments.

Plus, they stick only to aged care.

To start, their team has occupational therapists who can support individuals struggling with daily tasks, particularly work- or leisure-related activities.

Physiotherapy is also on the table, which is helpful for folks recovering from injuries or managing chronic pain. It helps that this option is comprehensive as well; diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation are covered.

The trade-off is that their services are mainly designed for aging in place. Younger individuals with NDIS-focused needs aren’t part of their clientele.

Moreover, while they provide specialised respite care for memory-related conditions, they lack dedicated mental health support for issues like depression or anxiety.

That said, My Companionship gets bonus marks for offering home modification services, solidifying their ‘ageing in place’ goal. The upgrades include bathroom modifications, lighting adjustments, handrail installations, and more.

So Professional, Qualified, and Sincere

‘My Companionship have been my mother’s final carers for 2 or so years after leaving another brand hoping for a better experience. We joined MC early in their establishment which I wouldn’t normally consider but meeting one of the principal managers I was immediately at ease with the care package. Really this review won’t be able to put into words how happy my mum was with the team. How far these guys went in each visit to ensure mums quality of life was supported to the highest standard. It’s clear this is not a job or a money grab these guys really put themselves out there to ensure their patients are well supported in all aspects of their care needs. My mum even tried to adopt one of the nurses ! In the final stages the team maintained this level of service going far out of their way to help us finalise everything. There was never a time during the 2 years with MC that I could not call or text the principles or nurses and they would reply every time. No question left unanswered no concern left unchecked so professional, qualified and sincere. It’s so hard to know in this industry who to trust who is here to help you and do the right thing. Perth Care + Companion Company (PCCC) cracked a spot here because of one key aspect: their uniqueness. Most of their services aren’t offered by competitors.

Take their sleepover care, for example; it’s basically live-in care but just for the night. If you simply need overnight medication reminders or assistance with bathroom trips, that’s good news.

Additionally, they have garden and pet care, a terrific option for green thumbs and fur parents who can no longer deal with the physical strain of watering plants or walking pets.

PCCC also has a distinctive self-managed package. Unlike traditional plans, this option lets clients manage funding, with PCCC just handling the heavy work, like staffing.

However, interviewees have mentioned slow responses to questions, with a few never receiving callbacks or replies.

They’re also relatively new, opening in 2019. Our list has more established entries.

Lastly, child care isn’t part of their services.
