With 20+ years in the industry, Atelier Diamant’s jewellers are no rookies. Their speciality is custom designing—think crafting bespoke oval or cushion cut rings.

Repair-wise, they don’t just stick to rings. Their expert jewellers can redesign and remodel almost any piece of jewellery, which is why I chose them to fix my bracelet.

The sweet bit is you get a modernised piece without losing its emotional value. For instance, they repurposed my bracelet’s exact details, metal, and stone.

Additionally, they won’t tweak anything without a chat first—it’s a collaborative pursuit, starting with a detailed, complimentary consultation. Every alteration, may it be concerning colour or engravings, will be discussed.

Their team even gets bonus points for being super friendly.

The snag is they’re a small crew, technically a duo. That sometimes leads to slower turnaround time.

Less availability is another snag to deal with.

Victoria Jeweller & Watchmaker is among the top picks if you’re after experience, as they’ve been crafting and repairing jewellery for over 30 years.

What’s more, their services are varied. Soldering, replacing stones, repairing settings, and polishing are just some of their specialties.

As for results, their work preserves the jewellery’s sentimental value. In fact, our interviewees praised their ‘clean’ craftsmanship, stating that there were no solder marks or rough edges visible on their pieces.

However, one drawback is they can be slow to update, sometimes coming a week after your jewellery has been fixed. They can also be pricier than Perth’s standard rates.

On the upside, their turnaround is impressive, usually finishing repairs between 1 and 3 weeks. Most even go to them for ‘busy period’ fixes, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas.

In addition, they provide science-based valuations and buy pieces you no longer wear.

Fit Was Right

‘I came here after losing one of my beautiful pearl earrings and I now have a lovely gold and pearl bangle!

Jade was amazing helping with ideas for this and together we came up with a design that would work. The jeweller made up a wax model for me to try on first which was great in ensuring that the fit was right and also letting me see what the finished bangle would look like. He then used my own gold and the remaining pearl from the earrings to create a gorgeous unique piece of jewellery that I love.

First opening in 1978, Allgem Jewellers definitely ticked our experience criterion. That said, it’s their wide-ranging, quality fixes that truly secured them a spot here.

We say that because several of us have acquired their gold, antique, and silver-related repairs, like fixing rings and re-tipping claws. Some rave that Allgem’s restorations were clean, preserved original/important details, and completed on time.

Furthermore, the shop has rhodium plating and cleaning options. This service is particularly beneficial to white gold jewellery that has lost its brilliance or durability over time.

Beyond that, they also specialise in jewellery reinforcing and strengthening. That means owners with bands or clasps concerns can swing by.

In terms of prices, their fees match the usual rates you’d expect in Perth. The turnaround time also typically doesn’t go over the 1-to-3-week mark.

AllGem’s staff could use some improvement, though. Many have noted their lack of warmth.

Moreover, they don’t purchase second-hand jewellery.

It was hard not to include Jewellery Design Studio here. For starters, they’ve been repairing bling for 30+ years.

Another perk is their comprehensive, full-service fixes—the jewellery or metal type rarely matters with this bunch. They repair silver, palladium, gold, platinum, and even pearl, may it be a ring or bracelet.

Their speciality, though, is fixing watches—old pocket watches, timeless Swiss pieces, and contemporary ones.

Of course, we didn’t list Jewellery Design Studio just for their extensive service coverage. Their quality stood out too, with seamless and precise craftsmanship, as confirmed by several of our teammates and interviewees.

However, they close early on Saturdays, shutting at 2 pm. They’re also Joondalup-based, so if you’re coming from downtown Perth, expect a 23-minute trip to reach the shop.

On the upside, quotes and consultations are free. Their staff won’t leave you fuming either, as they’re easy to reach and provide crucial tips, like post-repair care.

A family of master craftsmen has run Scagnetti Fine Jewellers since 1988.

The ‘master’ there isn’t just for show, as proven by the shop’s numerous awards. An example is Tayron Scagnetti’s gold medal finish during the 2012 WorldSkills Australia National Championship.

On the service front, they’re quite flexible, with over 10+ repair services. That includes laser soldering, rhodium plating, resizing, and clasp replacement.

All of their services are also done by jewellers trained in traditional Italian techniques, methods famed for their focus on intricacy and elegance.

If you need extra guidance, their staff will provide thorough valuations and free 30-minute consultations, available online and in person.

Just like the previous entry, though, Scagnetti Jeweller’s physical store is about 23 minutes from the Perth CBD. Closer options are available.

Not to mention, they wrap up at 3 pm on Saturdays. You better drive early if you have a one-on-one appointment.

’10/10 I couldn’t recommend this place enough! I had an idea for a custom necklace and after going to a few other jewellers, I was recommended this place. In my first meeting with Vairo, I was thoroughly impressed by his professionalism and his eagerness to help me create quite an intricate piece. He did an impressive mock up on the spot and once I gave the go ahead, the team took the concept and turned it into a reality that far exceeded my expectations. They worked closely with me throughout the whole process to ensure everything was exactly the way I wanted it.
