The Best Oysters in Perth with a Sweet Brininess I Can’t Forget

Confession time: I wasn’t always on the oyster bandwagon. Those shellfish looked like something out of a sci-fi flick, and the oceanic smell—let’s just say, it didn’t really appetise me at first.

Then came the turning point—an ex of mine convinced me to try Aussie oysters, particularly the ones from Albany Rock. Now, I could munch through a dozen (or more) in one day.

We’re no longer a thing, but my obsession with those flavoursome ocean delights isn’t going anywhere. Now, if you’re curious about where I get my hands on the best, here are the local restaurants to visit!

The Reveley

From thereveley

Address: Eastern Promenade The Towers at Elizabeth Quay, Ophir Walk
Contact Details: +61 8 6314 1350
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Tue – 11 am to 8 pm
  • Wed to Thu – 11 am to 10 pm
  • Fri to Sun – 11 am to 11:30 pm

Website

Perched on the Swan River, the Reveley served us Albany Rock Oysters with waterfront views. Each one was a salty, creamy mouthful, cooled down with a sharp mignonette and crisp cucumber.

For the perfect sip, we went with the Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc. The white wine had fruit-forward notes, mainly pineapple and citrus, which balanced the oysters’ robust umami.

Tip: Saturdays can get packed, so consider visiting on another day if you want to truly absorb the peaceful riverside atmosphere.

Petition

From petitionkitchen

Address: State Buildings, St Georges Tce &, Barrack St
Contact Details: +61 8 6168 7771
Operating Hours: Daily – 7 am to 10:30 am, 12 pm to 2:30 pm, 5 pm to9 pm
Website

Petition knows how to keep things stylish without being snooty, and their WA oysters prove it. The shellfish is doused in shallot vinaigrette, balancing that briny punch with a touch of acidic sweetness.

Now, when it comes to drinks, you’re spoilt for choice. 20 rotating taps and 20+ wines make for serious decision paralysis. If it’s us picking, Pinot Gris or Sauvignon Blanc is the way to go—both crisp enough to refresh the palate without overpowering the oysters.

Tip: One of the closest parking spots is the Wilson Parking (Kings Complex).

Rambla On Swan

From ramblaonswan

Address: South Shore Shopping Centre, 39/85 S Perth Esplanade
Contact Details: +61 8 9367 2845
Operating Hours: Tue to Sun – 11:30 am to 12 am
Website

Our oyster obsession hit new heights—both figuratively and literally—at Rambla On Swan. On their riverside terrace, we cleaned plates of plump Aussie oysters, each kissed with a chardonnay-shallot vinegar that added a fresh, fruity twist.

The $6 Kilpatrick oysters were our favourite. Between the Worcestershire sauce’s rich kick and the crispy bacon’s smoky infusion, those pieces were a flavour bomb!

Tip: Fridays to Sundays (around 3 pm to 6 pm) are the prime time for cheaper cocktails, including dirty martini, Aperol spritz, and ruby sour.

Miss Chow’s South Perth

From mariasmosaics_71

Address: The Echelon, 39 Mends St, South Perth
Contact Details: +61 8 6216 0322
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Wed – 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Thu – 12 pm to 9 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 10 pm
  • Sun – 12 pm to 9 pm

Website

Miss Chow’s fresh oysters bring a little taste of fire and ice. We say this because pickled chilli is part of the ensemble, and it’s nicely tamed with refreshing yuzu.

Most patrons couple them with the highly zesty Arancia Spritz, which once mixed with crushed ice becomes the perfect flavour reset. But if you’re after something a bit sweeter, the signature lychee martini won’t let you down.

Tip: There’s an extra 10% Sunday surcharge, so if you’re looking to save, it’s best to choose another day.

Bib & Tucker

From _bibandtucker_

Address: 18 Leighton Beach Blvd, North Fremantle
Contact Details: +61 8 9433 2147
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Tue – 12 pm to 10 pm
  • Wed to Sun – 8 am to 10 pm

Website

Bib & Tucker is hands down one of the brightest spots we’ve dined in, and their oysters match the vibe. Cucumber mignonette, crisp and refreshing, soaks into every plump morsel, while a squeeze of lemon adds a vibrant finish.

The sweet part is you can go on a seafood feast by splurging on the $125 platter. Yes, it’s not wallet-friendly, but you’re getting the ocean’s best, with pickled Freo octopus, Western Rock lobster, and caviar in the mix.

Tip: The general dress code is casual and beachy. Bare feet, however, aren’t allowed.

Art of Seafood

From artofseafood

Address: On the Point, 306 Riverside Dr, East Perth
Contact Details: +61 424 346 004
Operating Hours:

  • Tue – 5:30 pm to 10 pm
  • Wed to Fri – 11:30 am to 3 pm, 5:30 pm to 10 pm
  • Sat – 11:30 am to 10 pm
  • Sun – 11:30 am to 9 pm

Website

If you think lemon or vinaigrette oysters are a bit meh, swing by Art of Seafood for a wild ride. They have warm and cold oysters, with infusions like Thai chilli, Vietnamese herbs, and even apples!

But for us, the miso-glazed ones taste best. The savoury-sweet nuances fit right in with the oysters’ natural flavours. The creamy four cheese and smoky Kilpatrick comes close.

Tip: They host special events throughout the season, like Christmas and Valentine’s. Check them out for exclusive deals!

TheCray Seafood & Grill Restaurant, Belmont

From thecray_australia

Address: 86 Great Eastern Hwy, Belmont
Contact Details: +61 8 9479 7000
Operating Hours:

  • Tue to Fri – 11:30 am to 2 pm, 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Sat – 11:30 am to 2 pm, 5 pm to 9:30 pm
  • Sun – 11:30 am to 2 pm, 5 pm to 9 pm

Website

Oysters and cocktails at TheCray never go out of style. The Kilpatrick’s deep umami hits every time, with the buttery, garlicky Rockeller trailing as a very close second.

Their cocktails don’t disappoint either, with Pink Gin Spritz and Mojitos as the most reliable pairing for the oysters. But if you’re after pure indulgence, get TheCray’s sticky date pudding that’s drowning in butterscotch.

Tip: You can BYO drink, though there’s a corkage fee. Call for the updated price.

Manuka Woodfire Kitchen

From thefoodfeller

Address: 134 High St, Fremantle
Contact Details: +61 8 9335 3527
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 5:30 am to 9 pm
  • Sat – 12 pm to 3 pm, 5:30 pm to 9 pm

Website

Manuka cooks everything over open flames, and we’re glad their oysters are no exception. Always freshly shucked and fire-kissed, their pieces are loaded with briny goodness and caramelised, smoky edges.

To top it off, their rotating wine list is on point. Our favourite is their Cabernet Sauvignon, with dark berries and spicy notes further amplifying Manuka’s heavily flavoured oysters.

Tip: Bring your pups. There’s a small outdoor area designated for well-behaved dogs!

Good Company Bar

From goodcompanybar_

Address: Shop MJ0265, 200 Karrinyup Rd, Karrinyup
Contact Details: +61 8 6374 1200
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Wed – 11 am to 10:30 pm
  • Thu – 11 am to 11 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 11 am to 12 am
  • Sun – 11 am to 11 pm

Website

The easy-going Good Company Bar is the sort of place where you can kick back, sip a cold one, and munch on oysters for just $5. Specifically, you’ll munch on Leeuwin Coast Albany Rock oysters, which have a clean umami taste.

Keeping it simple, they dress them with just mignonette, adding that sharp tang for a bit of depth. Best have them as a starter for the bar’s iconic beer-battered fish and chips!

Tip: We highly recommend booking. As part of Karrinyup Shopping Centre, the lines here can get pretty long!

Yiamas Perth

From yiamas.perth

Address: 26 Denis St, Subiaco
Contact Details: +61 475 877 396
Operating Hours: Mon, Thu to Sun – 4 pm to 10 pm
Website

Yiamas does things the classy way, with top-shelf champagne flowing and fresh Albany Rock oysters as the headliners. What’s more, the shellfish get drizzled with a fresh squeeze of lemon and put on a cold bed of ice, letting that oceanic essence shine.

Of course, champagne is the perennial drink here, as its fizz plays well with the oysters’ texture while the acidity gives the umami a good old zing. Nobody will judge you if you opt for a cheaper Negroni or espresso martini, though.

Tip: Operating hours and seasonal menus are updated on their Instagram. You won’t often find them on the website.

Balthazar

From balthazarrestaurant

Address: Lawson Flats, 6 The Esplanade
Contact Details: +61 8 9421 1206
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Thu – 12 pm to 3 pm, 6 pm to 10 pm
  • Fri to Sat – 12 pm to 3 pm, 6 pm to 10:30 pm

Website

Balthazar is a European-inspired resto, partly hidden in a dimly lit, semi-underground setting that screams date night or low-key indulgence. Having a strong wine list makes this joint extra spectacular.

The oysters here go for $6.50 each, dressed with a splash of peachy sweetness and prosecco’s lively bubbles for contrast. As for the tipple, a lineup of international and homegrown sparklings, whites, and reds are on the menu.

Tip: If you’re dining with a group of 10 to 14, their wine room is definitely worth trying, especially if you want to dine privately.

Mister Walker Restaurant

From mrwalkerau

Address: 80 S Perth Esplanade, South Perth
Contact Details: +61 8 9367 1699
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 12 pm to 11:30 pm
  • Sat to Sun – 8 am to 11:30 pm

Website

We adore Mister Walker’s upmarket riverside location and mouthwatering seafood. Kilpatrick and natural oysters are the classics, but we always go for the crispy Szechuan ones, boasting chorizo jam for that extra spice.

A seafood platter is on the cards as well for just $95. That’s a steal, considering it’s piled high with smoky-sweet Shark Bay prawns, fiery lemon squid, and more.

Tip: For groups of 10 or more, you need to reach out to [email protected] to confirm tables.

The Boatshed Restaurant

From theboatshedrestaurant

Address: Sir James Mitchell Park, 1L Coode St, South Perth
Contact Details: +61 8 9474 1314
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Tue – 8 am to 2 pm
  • Wed to Sat – 8 am to 10 pm
  • Sun – 8 am to 4 pm

Website

The boujee Boatshed Restaurant isn’t just slinging primo oysters. Here, you’re also scoring a 180-degree eyeful of the Swan River, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

In terms of oysters, they play it straight with natural and Kilpatrick, but if you’re up for a thrill, have the battered ones with sriracha and wakame (seaweed). There’s also a baked number, luxuriating in silken vodka cream and salty bacon bits.

Tip: You can drive here. There’s free parking available!

Grabs Restaurant

From grabs.mtlawley

Address: Beaux Lane, 6/609 Beaufort St, Mount Lawley
Contact Details: +61 434 272 677
Operating Hours: Wed to Sun – 5:30 pm to 9 pm
Website

We rocked up to Grabs for their seafood boil, and let’s just say those Moreton Bay bugs bathed in garlic butter didn’t give us a single reason to complain. Same goes for the freshly shucked oysters.

The gang opted for the jazzed-up versions—grilled and salsa-topped, packing citrus-soy tang, garlicky goodness, and a chilli wallop for good measure. If that’s too much for your tastebuds, go natural—just a hit of lemon, salt, and pepper.

Tip: You can order online or via call if travelling is too time-consuming.

Samuels on Mill

From samuelsrestaurant

Address: Parmelia Hilton Perth, 14 Mill St
Contact Details: +61 8 9215 2422
Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 6:30 am to 12 am
  • Sat to Sun – 7 am to 12 am

Website

If you’re after oysters that emphasise pure, unadulterated flavours, Samuels on Mill’s should top your ‘restos to visit’ list. Fresh off the boat, they bring those briny, creamy notes right to your plate with just a squeeze of lemon to let the ocean shine through.

To further amp the umami, devour them with the equally popular seared scallops—crowned with a coconut vinaigrette. After that, a glass of Margaret River sweet wine or decadent tiramisu will end things on a sweet note!

Tip: If you’re after the sips and bites from the bar menu, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am is the time to head over.
