Evaluating the Best Preschools in Perth That Local Mums Believe In
As a parent of a young child, I’ve come to realise the importance of early education in shaping their future. While I can comfortably teach her the basics, I know that she also needs a structured environment where she can properly develop her skills and interact with new people.
Thankfully, a lot of other mommies in my neighbourhood are more than happy to weigh in with their opinions. With their help, along with my own research, I compiled the best preschools in the city. Here are the results of my findings.
1. Mulberry Tree Preschool and Kindy

One of the preschools that made a good impression on me is Mulberry Tree Preschool and Kindy. Located in Wembley Downs, they primarily use the WA Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework to teach the young generation.
These curricula are great for a child’s development, as they emphasise active participation and problem-solving skills.
Another thing I love about them is their Kids Club after-school care service. It offers a way for kids to still continue learning after classes through its homework support groups and weekly extracurricular activities.
It’s also worth mentioning that they offer free trial days to new clients. This offer is definitely a huge help for parents like me who are still unable to make a final decision.
Overall, they’re certainly a worthy choice. My only concern is their location since it’s a bit far for those living in Perth’s western suburbs.
The staff are so caring and loving to our kids
“We absolutely love mulberry tree preschool. The staff are so caring and loving to our kids, the facilities are exceptional and the educational programs and activities are so well planned and executed. We are so thankful that we have found a preschool with consistent staff, that our kids absolutely adore! They run out the door in the morning excited to see the educators and carers Lauren, Taylor and Chisa. We can’t thank the team enough for welcoming and caring for our family!”

The most amazing preschool
“The most amazing preschool, the educators are all brilliant and the facility is beautiful. They’ve really taken the time and care to welcome my nervous little girl and she now loves ‘school’! Can’t recommend them enough.”

Goodstart Early Learning is a not-for-profit preschool that was founded in 2009. With over 36 locations across the Perth Metropolitan Area, they’re one of the more accessible options you’ll find on this list.
Based on my research, they primarily use a play-based early learning approach as their teaching style. As its name suggests, this approach lets children explore and learn through play, which helps them develop essential skills like creativity and problem-solving.
However, what really caught my attention is their Goodstart at Home program. It’s an online collection of fun and educational activities that you and your child can enjoy together.
Furthermore, they also offer vacation care so kids can have something fun and educational to do during school holidays.
Sadly, most of their locations are already at max capacity and can’t accept new students easily. I also heard reports that some of their classrooms aren’t kept clean regularly.
It’s been home away from home for my two little ones for near a decade
“I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s been home away from home for my two little ones for nearly a decade. The educators are lovely, caring and kind. The centre has excellent leadership and treats students in their care like family. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts.”

So grateful to have found a daycare with such a great team
“Have always wanted to get my son in this particular Day Care. The Centre Director is very professional, accommodating and understanding about every family/child’s needs. The educators are really helpful and have always been very supportive to help settle my son in. Yes, just in a matter of a few weeks I have one happy and confident little boy. So grateful to have found a daycare with such a great team.”

Do you want your kid to become bilingual at a young age? Then you might like Bilingual by Five, a preschool in Canning Vale and the Perth CBD that offers early learning in English and Mandarin.
To make this unique teaching style work, they incorporate several methodologies from several curriculums, like the Reggio Emilia approach and the Montessori method.
Here, your kids will be immersed in both languages as they engage in various activities, like music, arts, and even rooftop soccer. Their staff also prepares nutritious meals on-site, so there’s no need to prepare a meal for your kids.
However, it’s important to remember that their prices are a bit higher than other preschools in the city. It’s also a bit saddening to hear that they’re a bit understaffed, as that may affect the quality of education they can provide.
BB5 is such an incredible, nurturing environment for children
“BB5 is such an incredible, nurturing environment for children. Our son has thrived in his time in the You You room and often asks to stay late or go in on days when he does not have daycare. We are deeply grateful to the aunties (and management) for how above and beyond they go in creating such a positive environment.”

Helped our girls learn in both Mandarin and English
“We have been at BB5 since it opened and really appreciate the caring, nurturing, dynamic environment of the centre. Two of our girls have been through all the rooms from Bao Bao through to You You. We have felt that all staff have been caring and supportive on tough drop off days, been good at communicating with us, and helped our girls learn in both Mandarin and English. Also, we are always amazed with the wonderful variety of fresh food that the kids eat from the kitchen. Not to mention, the admin staff behind the scenes are efficient and always available to listen to our concerns. Thanks BB5!”

Another highly accessible preschool worth mentioning is the Schools of Early Learning. With seven locations in Perth, they offer a play-based curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach.
Of course, the play-based approach only works if the school actually has the facilities needed to conduct it. Thankfully, SOEL doesn’t disappoint, as they feature a wide array of amazing environments for kids to explore.
An example is their Atelier Studio, where students are free to experiment and create their own art creations. This school also has a proper kitchen and dining hall that serves freshly made meals to their students.
Another thing I like about SOEL is their use of Storypark, an app that documents a student’s learning progress for their parent’s easy viewing.
However, a thing that worries me is their high staff turnover rate, as it makes it harder for the kids to have meaningful relationships with their instructors.
The staff are committed, passionate and amazing at what they do
“I have worked for SOEL for 2 years now and I absolutely love it. The staff are committed, passionate and amazing at what they do. They provide endless amounts of training opportunities for their staff and educators to further their knowledge. Not only are the staff and directors incredible but the physical environments and centres themselves are IMPRESSIVE to say the least. Definitely worth a tour! SOEL is definitely somewhere I would want my children attending, the experiences and learning they provide for them are like no other. They don’t just tell you that’s what they are doing, they actually do it! I feel very proud to work at the School of Early Learning.”

Has consistently provided exemplary care for our daughter
“North Perth SOEL has consistently provided exemplary care for our daughter. The educators are professional, knowledgeable and very caring. The children are provided with a brilliant range and variety of activities and experiences and we will be sad when our time at SOEL comes to an end.”

Do you hate the idea of being away from your kids for almost an entire day? Then you might like the Studio 64 Hub. Founded in 2016, this preschool stands out from the rest as it also features its own coworking space.
Yep, you read that right. Here, you can work on your projects while your kids are attending their classes just a couple of rooms over.
For their early learning services, they follow the play-based approach to incentivise kids to be more creative and active. Studio 64 Hub also offers a STEM and tech program to introduce kids to the wonders of science, mathematics, and engineering.
Another thing I love about this preschool is the extra perks it offers to make the parents’ lives easier, like grocery collection and car cleaning.
Sadly, their prices are a bit too high compared to other learning institutions.
Have consistently gone the extra mile to accommodate our wishes
“Both of our kids attend Studio 64 Daycare and have thrived since day one. The centre is always arranging new and exciting activities, visitors and excursions for the children and updating us with photos throughout the day. The staff and management have always welcomed open discussion on how we wish to raise and parent our kids and have consistently gone the extra mile to accommodate our wishes :-)”
