Both pros & rookies shred it up at the 14 best skateparks in Perth!

Perth’s skateboarding scene might not be the city’s biggest draw, but it’s one of its hottest subcultures. The sheer number of skateparks around tells you everything you need to know.

They’re spread across the city, with some in the heart of the urban action, others tucked away in more secluded spots, and a few right by the beach. What’s even more wicked is they’re mostly for skaters of any level. Check them out below!

City of Bayswater Skate Park

From nola1960

Address: Wotton Reserve, Embleton

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

With wide open spaces and primo concrete, Bayswater Skate Park is a ripper spot for any skater, especially early in the morning when there are no crowds.

It has a gnarly vert pipe for those big air moments, a smooth pump track to keep up the speed, and ramps of all sizes to hone your moves. And, of course, there’s the high bowl for big jumps!

Tip: Though the skate park is open 24/7, don’t risk it, as the lighting here isn’t the best. Ride during the day when there’s sufficient sunlight.

Ellenbrook Skate Park

From buggybuddys_kids_in_perth

Address: Coolamon Oval, 9 Pinegrove Dr, Ellenbrook

Contact Details: +61 1800 034 588

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Our BMXers and skaters treat Ellenbrook Skate Park like their second home. We can’t blame them, as the well-maintained spot has jump ramps, slide wedges, and planters galore, which most daredevils can’t resist.

It’s the five-foot bowl our crew loves the most, though. Thanks to its ledges and hips, carving and switching between heights are thrilling yet easy-peasy.

Tip: If you don’t want to bump into other shredders, between 3 pm and 6 pm is the best time to skate here.

Mandurah Skate Park

From mia_kretzer

Address: Halls Head

Operating Hours:

  • Mon to Fri – 8 am to 9 12 am
  • Sat – 8 am to 11 pm
  • Sun – 8 am to 9 pm

The $22-million Mandurah Waterfront Project really gave Mandurah Skate Park a new lease on life. Now, the space has three spacious zones, each spruced up and designed for different skill levels.

There’s also a pedestrian trail looping around, giving you the perfect spot to watch BMXers and skaters go at it. However, the advanced bowl is the park’s show-stealer, as it’s where seasoned shredders show off their skills.

Tip: There’s a play area nearby, so you can also bring kiddos.

Thornlie Skate Park

From cityofgosnellswa

Address: 1 Culross Ave, Thornlie

Contact Details: +61 8 9397 3131

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Thornlie Skate Park might not be the flashiest, but it definitely delivered. Our little ones were grinning from ear to ear on the mini ramps, which were smooth enough to nail those quick, simple tricks and transitions without rolling.

For our seasoned skaters, though, the manual pads and grindable edges were more exciting. They also had a proper blast on the 1.2-metre bowls, which the park has 2 of, both fantastic for deep carves.

Tip: There are lights here, but do note they get turned off at around 9 pm.

Gosnells Skate Park

From perthstart

Address: 87 Ashburton Dr, Gosnells

Contact Details: +61 8 9397 3131

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Gosnells Skate Park might look a bit humble, but it’s buzzing with action. It has plenty of grind space with ledges to try, alongside a compact set of stairs for kickflips or hollies.

Tricksters will also be stoked with the manual pads and rails here—the latter ideal for slanting, grinding, and even sliding. To top it off, a handful of quarter pipes are around, which means you can do some sick airs.

Tip: Lots of skating programmes and competitions take place here. Call the number above for deets.

Belmont Skate Park

From toddmeyn

Address: Abernethy Rd &, Alexander Rd, Belmont

Contact Details: +61 8 9477 7222

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Belmont Skate Park is ace whether you’re chasing a cruisy roll or a gnarly sesh. It’s kitted out with ski jumps and half pipes, plus a grassy, shady patch for picnics post-skating.

The spine here is also a beast—towering up to 4 to 5 feet to give seasoned skaters a challenge. And if you want to hone in your flow and transition game, there are volcanoes for that, all in great condition.

Tip: Aside from skateboards, you can ride scooters here.

Fremantle Skate Park

From tktana

Address: 1 Beach St, Fremantle

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Not a whiff of boredom hit us at the 1,045 sqm Fremantle Skate Park. We gave the massive bowl a red-hot crack, while the rookies found their groove on the mellow ramps.

Beyond the skating, we had a bonza time checking out WA’s first parkour park and smashing a few rallies at the ping-pong tables!

Tip: This is one of the busiest skate parks around, so if you want a chiller cruise, swing by on Sundays when it’s not too cramped.

Manning Skate Park

From skateboardingwa

Address: Manning Rd, Karawara

Contact Details: +61 8 9474 0777

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

Packed as it gets, Manning Skate Park can still handle numerous skaters, BMXers, and scooter riders without feeling like a sardine tin. It also has a world of obstacles, namely quarter pipes and fun boxes, all decked in electric street art.

Once the wheels cool down, you can chuck some bites on the free BBQs, and wolf them down at the shaded gazebos.

Fair warning, though: this spot gets busy. Be patient when waiting your turn on both the skating zones and grills.

Tip: Ring the number above to join a skateboard clinic set here.

Scarborough Beach Skate Park

From scarboroughbeachskatepark

Address: 150 The Esplanade, Scarborough

Contact Details: +61 8 9205 8555

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Facebook

Don’t be shocked if you spot throngs at the crowd-favourite Scarborough Beach Skate Park, AKA ‘The Snake Pit’. Its 3-tiered design gives you everything, from ramps to stairs, so you can mix it up and never get bored (and the beachy views are a bonus).

Moreover, there’s a 3.6-metre deep skate bowl, made with international tourney standards in mind. If that’s not enough to kick your inner daredevil into gear, the 4.4-metre climbing wall at the centre might.

Tip: Bring a basketball if you fancy a game of hoops. There’s a court nearby.

Leederville Skate Park

From nola1960

Address: Leederville Skate Park

Contact Details: +61 8 9328 3221

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

We’d be taking the mick if we left out Leederville Skate Park. Rocking two bowls and that iconic submarine, it’s an old but reliable location to bust out your best moves.

The layout is a win for newbies too, while the shade is the cherry on top. Better stay sharp though; most likely, you’ll share the spot with BMXers, scooter riders, and a few rollerbladers.

Tip: Hop on the train. The skate park is only 350 metres from the Leederville Train Station.

Mills Park Skate Plaza

From josh.mcmurray0

Address: 86 Brixton St, Beckenham

Contact Details: +61 8 9397 3131

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

We hit up the Mills Park Skate Plaza when we’re after a more cruisy session. The park’s spread out, with a linear design perfect for letting loose and gliding through the arvo.

The park also has tons of features. Ledges, hips, rails—you name it, it’s on the list. Most of the seats are skate-able too, so you’re not all stuffed into one section fighting for space with BMXers and rollerbladers.

Tip: This place is a go-to for shindigs, workshops, and clinics. Check out the website for all upcoming events!

Nedlands Skate Park

From skateboardingwa

Address: Charles Court Reserve, Esplanade, Nedlands

Contact Details: +61 8 9273 3500

Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 24 hours

Website

We had a more laid-back experience at the Nedlands Skate Park since it’s on the slower side of town. Sure, it’s not massive, but the smooth surface and those Swan River views boosted the appeal for us—especially when the yachts cruised past.

Don’t think our visit was a snoozefest, though. The quarterpipes and 3-foot ramps still got our adrenaline pumping, while the funboxes had us launching tricks non-stop.

Tip: Don’t forget to check the weather before you start shredding. It can get pretty chilly and windy here!

Forrestfield Skate Park

From skatesculpture

Address: 1243 Hartfield Rd, Forrestfield

Contact Details: +61 8 9257 9999

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Website

One thing that stands out at woodsy Forrestfield Skate Park is the decent shade it offers. On top of that, it’s super inclusive, so you don’t have to be Tony Hawk to have a good time.

In terms of features, it has a terrific mix of rolls and humps, but watch out for the kiddies who love practising here. If you’re not keen on dodging little groms, try night skating; those lights are typically on until 10 pm.

Tip: There are free BBQ grills here. You can bring something to cook!

Walliabup Skate Park

From cockburnyouthservices

Address: 60 Bibra Dr, Bibra Lake

Contact Details: +61 8 9411 3444

Operating Hours: Daily – 24 hours

Even with a gaggle of little ones zipping around, Walliabup Skate Park’s still worth a go. Built with input from specialist Carving Concrete and local skaters, BMXers, and scooter riders, it’s no wonder the place became a hit.

The outcome is an all-inclusive park with numerous perks like a scooter track, ramps, stairsets, and even a court. Best of all, quality has been kept tip-top since its 2018 opening, so you can hit up those fun boxes without worrying about nasty surprises.

Tip: There are a few shelters, but shade is pretty scarce here. Keep that in mind when picking your gear and sun essentials.
