Point Walter Reserve is a large riverside park with beautiful Swan River views. This seems ideal for picnics, swimming, BBQs, and playing in the playgrounds.
Its size, the beauty of the land’s greenery, and the number of facilities make it an excellent place for any event, from a small family trip to a big wedding.
Still, this location is mainly visited for its lovely Point Walter Golf Course. This 9-hole golf course is well known for its excellent fairways, grass, and fascinating surroundings.
We suggest looking out for their special events and playing under the stars at night to make the most of your experience. This is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.
You may also stroll along the Point Walter Sandbar from the river’s beachfront when the tide is out. Many guests take advantage of the natural scenery to shoot amazing pictures.
There are also other reserve facilities to discover. If you want to do yoga or Pilates in a spacious area, there’s plenty of open, grassy land, along with many bike and walking paths to enjoy.
This is also a good place to experience the chill activity of birdwatching. Of course, there’s a need for binoculars.
Even if you frequent your optometrist, there’s a rare chance your vision could decipher the tiny little dots in the sky when the birds fly too far away.
If you’re worried about what the dermatologist would say if you got sunburnt, don’t fret because there’s an abundance of natural shading available. There are two playgrounds with adequate shades for kids as well.
Those who enjoy being in the water can try paddleboarding. Otherwise, staying by the boat ramp and jetty offers some picturesque views, too.
Unfortunately for pet owners, dogs aren’t allowed in this location. If you’d love to have your furry friends with you, we recommend visiting some dog-friendly campgrounds or beaches in Perth instead.
Shop at the Westfield Booragoon Shopping Centre

Address: 125 Riseley St, Booragoon WA 6154, Australia
Contact Details: +61 8 9449 6300
Opening Hours: Monday & Thursday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Tuesday – Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Friday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Perth’s Westfield Booragoon, originally known as Garden City, is a major regional shopping centre. Conveniently, the central business district is only 15 minutes south of Westfield Booragoon.
At Westfield Booragoon, you can find 8 small shops, 5 big stores (Myer, David Jones, Kmart, Coles, and Woolworths), and a number of specialty shops and other services.
Each year, 10.3 million people visit the centre, drawn by the wide selection of shops and plenty of parking space.
However, note that this location can be too cramped at times. To avoid missing anything, we advise making a plan for the shops you want to visit beforehand and arriving early.
Visit the Heathcote Reserve

Website: https://www.melvillecity.com.au/things-to-do/find-parks-and-reserves/heathcote-reserve
Address: 58 Duncraig Rd, Applecross WA 6153, Australia
Contact Details: +61 8 9364 0666
Opening Hours: Open 24 hours
Goolugatup Heathcote has a bunch of amenities to explore. It has a world-class restaurant and one of the most popular and award-winning playgrounds for kids in the metropolitan area.
Children may let their imaginations run wild on the playground, which is a giant pirate ship (or any kind of ship they want)! The sky’s the limit – the little ones may pretend to be pirates, cruise ship guests, or even Peter Pan or Wendy.
The ‘ship’ is full of tunnels, too. There are secret places to hide, bridges, and lookout points that can keep kids busy for hours.
Families may also enjoy BBQs and going to a nearby cafe for lunch time. Friendly tip: make sure to queue for coffee a little early since there will be many people going for a picnic there.
Not only that, but if you love art galleries, perhaps you’ll like their museum, artist studios, workshop spaces, and beautiful venues for rent.
Goolugatup is known for its sunset river views, too. We recommend taking lots of pictures and capturing the breathtaking moments here.
It’s also a plus that their restrooms are wheelchair accessible. They cater to a lot of people at this location, so anyone can enjoy it.
Just be aware that reserve sites, BBQs, and picnic spots are public facilities that are free to use – with the exception of wedding ceremonies.
Visit the Wireless Hill Park

Website: https://www.melvillecity.com.au/things-to-do/find-venues-parks-and-reserves/wireless-hill-park
Address: Almondbury Rd, Ardross WA 6153, Australia
Contact Details: +61 1300 635 845
Opening Hours: Open 24 hours
Another nice site to enjoy family BBQs, observe wildflowers, go for a walk, and learn about the history of the area is Wireless Hill Park.
There are tons of footpaths and benches to relax on. We also like that their natural playspace is accessible to all, even those with disabilities.
For your reference, there are 3 main walks here: Station Walk, Yagan’s Genunny, and Wildflower Walk. The last one is the most popular.
During Perth’s wildflower season, both local and foreign visitors adore its trail. This is why, if possible, we suggest visiting here from July to October so you can see how its blooming wonders.
And there you go! We hope you find the best activities to explore in Melville, Perth. Have a refreshing time away from the bustle and hustle of the city!
